Molar mass distribution

Okay kiddo, let's talk about molar mass distribution. Do you know what a molecule is? It's a tiny little thing made up of atoms. And sometimes, we want to know how heavy or light a molecule is. That's where molar mass comes in.

Molar mass tells us how much one mole of a substance weighs. And a mole is just a number, like a dozen. But instead of 12, it's 6.02 x 10 to the power of 23 molecules. That's a lot of molecules!

Now, when we have a bunch of different molecules together, they all have different weights (molar masses). It's kind of like when you and your friends are all different heights. So we can't just say the molar mass of everything together. We have to look at the molar mass distribution.

This means we count up how many molecules there are of different weights. So, imagine you had a bunch of balls of different sizes. You could count how many small ones you have, how many medium ones, and how many big ones.

We do the same thing for molecules. We count how many have a molar mass of, say, 100 grams per mole. And then we count how many have a molar mass of 200 grams per mole. And so on, for all the different weights.

This helps us understand the properties of a whole mixture of molecules, not just one kind. And that's the molar mass distribution!
