ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Molecular geometry

Molecular geometry is the shape of a molecule. Molecule shapes are determined by the bonds between atoms and the electrons that hang around the atoms. Different types of bonds and different numbers of electrons can cause the atoms to be arranged in different shapes. For example, water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Hydrogen and oxygen atoms like to be in a shape like a triangle, so that is the shape of a water molecule.
