Mordecai

Mordecai is a character from a story in the Jewish religion called the Book of Esther. The story goes like this: Mordecai was a Jewish man living in the city of Susa. The king of Persia, Xerxes, had chosen a new queen named Esther who was also Jewish, but she had hidden her identity from the king.

One day, a wicked man named Haman became an important advisor to the king and he decided he wanted to destroy all the Jewish people because he didn't like them. When Mordecai heard about Haman's plan, he went to Esther and asked her to go to the king and tell him about the evil plan. But this was dangerous because anyone who went to the king without being asked could be killed.

Mordecai told Esther that maybe God had made her queen so that she could help save their people. Esther was scared but she was also brave and decided to go to the king. She told him that she was Jewish and that Haman was planning to kill all the Jewish people. The king was very upset and didn't want this to happen so he ordered Haman to be punished instead of the Jewish people.

Mordecai is remembered in the story as being a wise and brave man who helped Esther to save the Jewish people from being destroyed.
