Moscow–Constantinople schism (2018)

Okay, so a long time ago there were two important guys named the Pope and the Patriarch. The Pope was in charge of some churches in the West, and the Patriarch was in charge of some churches in the East.

They used to be friends, but one day they had an argument about some religious things, like how to pray and who can be a leader. They couldn't agree on anything, so they decided to split up and have their own separate churches.

This was called the Great Schism, and it happened a really long time ago in the year 1054.

Now, fast forward to 2018. The Moscow-Constantinople schism is kind of like a tiny version of the Great Schism. It's between two guys called the Patriarch of Moscow and the Patriarch of Constantinople.

These guys are both leaders of churches in different parts of the world – Moscow is in Russia and Constantinople is in Turkey. They used to be friends and worked together, but they had another argument. This time it was about a bishop in Ukraine and who had the right to control him.

They couldn't agree on anything, so they decided to split up and have their own separate churches too. Some people are really upset about this because it means that the churches won't be working together as closely anymore.

So, to sum it up: Two leaders of different churches had an argument and decided to split up because they couldn't agree on something. This is called the Moscow-Constantinople schism.
