ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mudpot

A mudpot is like a boiling pot of mud! You know when you see a pot of water boiling on the stove and the water is bubbling and moving around? Well, a mudpot is kind of like that, except instead of water, it's mud that is boiling and bubbling.

Mudpots happen in places where there is a lot of volcanic activity, and they are created when hot water and gases mix with dirt and rocks. The heat from the volcanic activity causes the water to get really, really hot, and the gases cause the mud to bubble and splash around.

The mud in a mudpot can be really different from regular mud you might see outside. It can be thick and gooey, and sometimes it even has a weird smell! But even though it's a bit different, it's still important to remember that mudpots are a part of nature, and they are really cool to see!
