Mumyōzōshi

Mumyōzōshi is a book that was written a very long time ago in Japan. It is special because it has lots of different stories in it, all written by different people. These stories were written before there were printers or computers, so each one was written by hand!

Now, imagine you have lots of different toys that you want to keep safe, but you don't have a box to keep them in. What do you do? You make a special bag! That's what people did with these stories. They put them all together in one bag and wrote the name "Mumyōzōshi" on it.

Inside the bag, there are lots of different stories about all kinds of things. Some stories are funny, some are sad, and some are scary. And because they were written a long time ago, they talk about things that are different from what we see now. For example, they talk about samurais and kings, and things called "ghosts" and "demons."

Even though Mumyōzōshi is a very old book, people still like to read it today because it helps us learn about what life was like a long time ago. It's like taking a trip back in time!
