In Northern Ireland, people who belong to different religions, called Catholics and Protestants, have had disagreements and fights for a very long time. Sometimes, they even hurt each other and damage buildings and homes.
To help bring people together and show that they can live in peace, many walls and buildings in Northern Ireland have been painted with big, colorful pictures called murals. These murals show things like people holding hands, or beautiful landscapes, or events that helped make peace between the two groups of people.
Some murals are very old and were created during the time of the disagreements, while others are newer and show things that are happening now. Looking at these murals helps people remember that it is important to be kind to each other and that everyone should try to get along.
