ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Music written in all 24 major and minor keys

Hi kiddo! Have you ever heard a song that sounds happy or makes you feel excited? Well, that happy sound is usually played in what's called a "major key." And have you ever heard a song that sounds sad or makes you feel a little bit mopey? That sad sound is usually played in what's called a "minor key."

Now imagine if we could make all kinds of music in those happy and sad sounds, but in all different keys. And by "keys," I mean a special pattern of notes that give each song a unique sound.

There are 24 different keys we can use to write music, and each key has its own special pattern of notes that make it sound different. So imagine having 24 different paintbrushes to paint with, but instead of colors, each brush creates a different sound in our music!

Writing music in all 24 keys means that we can make a lot of different songs with different sounds and moods. It's like having a giant music toolbox that we can use to create anything we want! And it takes a lot of practice to learn how to write music in all those keys, but once we do, we can create an entire world of music for everybody to enjoy!
