Mustard plaster

Okay kiddo, have you ever had a cold or flu and your chest felt all congested and you found it hard to breathe? A mustard plaster is something you might use on your chest to make you feel better.

It's made by mixing mustard powder with some warm water and then spreading it on a cloth or a piece of paper towel. Then, you put the cloth or paper towel on your chest, making sure it covers your lungs.

The mustard plaster works by making your skin warm and tingly. This feels nice and it helps to open up your airways which makes it easier for you to breathe. You might even cough up some of the yucky stuff that's making it hard for you to breathe in the first place!

But kiddo, you have to be careful when you use a mustard plaster. You need to make sure it does not stay on for too long and you only use it on your chest- not on your face or any other part of your body. You also need to ask a grown-up to help you make it- because the mustard powder is strong and can make your eyes water!

So, a mustard plaster is a sort of home remedy that helps to make you feel better when you have a cold or flu. It's like a warm, tingly hug for your lungs!
