ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

N'Ko script

N'ko is an African writing system created by Souleymane Kanté in 1949. It is used to write several African languages, including Maninka, Bambara, and Pulaar. N'ko means "I say" in these languages. The N'ko script is a simple alphabet made up of symbols called "sigis". Each sigis has a sound that is part of one of the African languages it is used to write. To write a word, you join together the sigis that spell out the word. Some words can also be written with a combination of sigis and other symbols.
