NKVD

The NKVD was a group of people who worked for the government in a country called the Soviet Union a long time ago. Their job was to make sure people were following the rules that the government made. They would watch and listen to people to see if they were doing anything wrong or saying anything bad about the government. If they found out that someone was not following the rules, they would punish them by taking them to jail or making them disappear. The NKVD was a very scary group because people were afraid of getting in trouble with them.
