ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

NSFNet

NSFNET was a big network that worked kind of like a superhighway for information. It was like a really fast and super reliable internet that helped people all across the world talk to each other and share ideas.

Just like how we have roads and highways to get us from one place to another, the NSFNET network helped data (which is like little pieces of information) get from one place to another really quickly.

The NSFNET was created by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to link up universities and research centers all over the United States. This way, scientists and researchers could share their work and communicate with each other easily.

The network was made up of lots and lots of computer servers and they were all connected together to create a really big network that could send data really quickly from one place to another.

Overall, NSFNET was a really important part of internet history and helped us get to where we are today with our modern internet technology.
