Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of Naegleria fowleri? No? Well, it's a type of tiny living thing called a single-celled organism that likes to live in warm water like lakes, rivers, and even some swimming pools.
But here's the thing, this little organism can sometimes get up your nose if you go swimming or diving or even using unclean water which can make it really dangerous. It can actually go through your nose and up into your brain, where it can cause a very serious infection called primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).
That's why it's really important to be careful when you're swimming, to make sure you're using safe water sources and to avoid getting water up your nose. If you're ever concerned about it, make sure to talk to your parents or a grown-up about what steps you can take to stay safe.
