Nakamal

A nakamal is a place where people from some Pacific Islands gather to talk and drink kava. Kava is a drink made from the ground root of a plant and it has a calming effect. The nakamal is a kind of community centre and meeting place for people to get together and talk about anything, from the news of the day to stories of the past. People come to the nakamal to socialize, drink kava and enjoy each other's company.
