Name-dropping

Name-dropping is when someone mentions another person's name when they are talking in order to make themselves sound important or to make their story more interesting. For example, if someone was talking about a party they went to and wanted to sound cool, they might say, "I was at this party and Brad Pitt was there!" This is name-dropping because they have mentioned a famous person's name to make it sound like they hang out with famous people.
