ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nanaimo bar

A Nanaimo bar is a sweet treat that has three different layers. The bottom layer is made from crushed graham crackers, coconut, and chopped nuts. This is all mixed together with melted chocolate and butter, then pressed into a pan to make a solid layer.

The second layer is a creamy, custard filling that is made from a mixture of butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla pudding. This mixture is spread on top of the bottom layer and chilled until it is firm.

The top layer of a Nanaimo bar is simply more chocolate! It is melted and spread over the custard filling, then chilled again until it is firm. Once it is solidified, the entire thing can be cut into little squares and enjoyed as a delicious dessert.

Think of it like a yummy sandwich - the graham cracker and coconut layer is the bread, the custard filling is the filling, and the melted chocolate is like the butter that holds it all together. Yum!
