Nanjing (Liao dynasty)
Nanjing was a city in China a really, really long time ago during a time called the Liao Dynasty. The Liao Dynasty was a time when a group of people called the Khitans ruled over China.
Nanjing was an important city because it was a place where a lot of people lived and traded things like food and clothes. The people who lived in Nanjing were really good at making silk and pottery. They even made really pretty paintings on silk!
The people who ruled the Liao Dynasty liked Nanjing because they could get things from the people who lived there. They would trade things like horses and precious metals for the silk and pottery that the people of Nanjing made.
Even though Nanjing was an important city during the Liao Dynasty, people eventually stopped living there because of wars and other problems. But we can still learn about Nanjing and how it was an important part of China's history.
