ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nasal release

Nasal release is when you have a runny or stuffy nose. You know how sometimes when you have a cold, your nose feels like it's full of boogers and you keep having to blow it? That's because your nose is releasing extra mucus to help fight off the germs that are making you sick. The mucus is like a sticky goo that catches the germs and helps keep them from getting into your body. When you blow your nose or wipe it with a tissue, you're getting rid of the mucus and the yucky germs with it. So, even though it might be annoying to have a runny or stuffy nose, it's actually a good thing because it means your body is working hard to keep you healthy.
