National Catholicism

National Catholicism is the idea that everyone in a country should follow the same religion, usually the Catholic religion. National Catholicism means that countries that are largely Catholic will only allow Catholic beliefs to be practiced and promoted by the government. This means that citizens must follow the laws and moral teaching of the Catholic Church. For example, in countries like Italy or Ireland, only the Catholic Church can marry people and run schools.
