National Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council

Okay kiddo, let me explain what the National Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council (NEPEC) is.

You know how sometimes the ground shakes and things fall off the shelves? That’s called an earthquake. Earthquakes can be very scary and dangerous, especially if we don’t know when they will happen.

That’s where NEPEC comes in. It’s a group of scientists, experts, and government officials who work together to help predict when and where earthquakes might happen.

But predicting earthquakes is really hard. Even the smartest scientists can’t always be sure when an earthquake will happen. That’s why NEPEC doesn’t make exact predictions. Instead, they give people advice on ways to be ready for an earthquake and how to stay safe during one.

So, NEPEC is basically a group of really smart people who try to help keep us safe from earthquakes.
