The National Recovery Administration (NRA) was like a big club that lots of different companies joined during the Great Depression. All the companies who joined agreed to play by some new rules that the club made up. These rules were supposed to help make things better for everyone who was having a hard time because of the Depression.
One of the new rules was that companies had to pay their workers a fair wage and follow safety rules to make sure nobody got hurt. The NRA also made sure that companies wouldn't try to cheat each other by setting up rules for how much things should cost.
Lots of people thought that the NRA was a good idea because it helped businesses work together and take care of their workers. But some people didn't like it because they thought the NRA gave too much power to the government and took away freedom from the companies.
In the end, the National Recovery Administration didn't last very long because it had some problems and didn't really fix everything that was wrong during the Great Depression. But people still remember it as an important experiment in trying to help people during a hard time.
