Native American civil rights

Okay, kiddo! So, Native American civil rights means that these are the rules and laws that say that Native Americans are equal to everyone else and deserve to be treated fairly, just like you and me!

For a long time, Native Americans were not treated fairly. People who came from other countries, mostly Europeans, took over their land and tried to force them to follow their ways. Many Native Americans were forced to leave their homes and many of their families were separated.

Because of this, Native American civil rights were not respected. They weren't even allowed to be citizens of the United States until the year 1924! That's a long time, isn't it?

Thankfully, people started to notice that this was not okay. Native Americans and their allies fought very hard to make sure that they were given the same rights as everyone else. They wanted their land back, their families back, and the freedom to practice their culture as they saw fit.

Now, Native Americans have many civil rights just like you and me. They have the right to vote, the right to practice their religion, and the right to be protected under the law. They can also speak up when their rights are being violated, just like we can.

Overall, Native American civil rights are very important because they help make sure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect.
