Native American weaponry

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, people who lived in what we now call North and South America were called Native Americans. They had to hunt for food and protect themselves, so they made weapons to help them do that.

One common weapon they used was called a bow and arrow. It was like a long stick with a string tied between both ends. They put an arrow, which looked like a long pointy stick, on the string and pulled it back. When they let go of the string, the arrow would shoot forward and hopefully hit the animal they were hunting.

Another weapon they used was called a tomahawk. It was like a small axe that they could throw at an animal or use to hit it up close. They also used spears which were long sticks with a sharp pointy end that they could throw or use like a sword.

Native Americans also made weapons out of things like bones, stones, and wood. Sometimes they would sharpen bones or stones to make knives, and other times they would use heavy rocks to crush things.

Different tribes of Native Americans had their own unique weapons and techniques for using them, but they all had one thing in common – they used their weapons to survive and take care of themselves and their families.
