Nazca culture

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about the Nazca culture.

A long, long time ago, hundreds of years before you and I were born, there was a group of people who lived in what is now Peru. They were called the Nazca people because they lived in the Nazca region.

These people were very clever and they knew how to do lots of things like farming and weaving textiles. But what they are most famous for are the Nazca lines.

Now, the Nazca lines are really big drawings that the Nazca people made on the ground. They made them by removing the top layer of rocks and earth to reveal the lighter colored soil underneath. The drawings are so big that you can only see them from way up high, like in an airplane.

Some of the drawings are of animals like monkeys, birds and spiders. Others are of geometric shapes like squares and triangles. We don't really know why the Nazca people made these drawings, but some people think they were used for religious ceremonies or as a way to communicate with spirits.

The Nazca people also made pottery, jewelry and other cool stuff. They were really good at working with gold and made some beautiful, intricate jewelry.

Eventually, the Nazca culture disappeared, but their legacy lives on through the amazing Nazca lines and the artifacts they left behind.
