ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Negative planning

Negative planning is the opposite of positive planning. When we do negative planning, we think about all the bad things that could happen in the future and try to prepare for them. For example, if we want to go camping, we might think about what we would do if it rained, if we ran out of food, or if we got lost in the woods.

It's like a superhero preparing for a bad guy to attack. The superhero thinks about what the bad guy might do and prepares a plan to stop them. Negative planning helps us be prepared for the worst and helps us feel more confident and in control when things don't go as planned. It's important to remember that negative planning is just one type of planning and we should also try to focus on the positive things that can happen.
