Nehru jacket

A Nehru jacket is a type of jacket that takes its name from a man called Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a leader in India a long time ago and he used to wear a jacket like this a lot.

The Nehru jacket looks a little bit like a suit jacket, but it is different in several ways. For example, it does not have any lapels (the flaps on the front of a suit jacket) and it is usually shorter than a normal suit jacket. It also has a sort of Mandarin collar that stands up around the neck, and it usually has a row of buttons going down the front.

People started wearing Nehru jackets because they liked the way they looked and thought they were stylish. Some people wear them to formal events like weddings or parties, and other people wear them casually with jeans or other pants.

So there you have it, a Nehru jacket is a type of jacket named after an important person from India, and it is a special kind of jacket that you can wear to look fashionable and stylish.
