Neo-Chartalism

Neo-chartalism is the idea that money comes from governments instead of banks. In other words, it means that governments create the money we use instead of a private bank. To help you understand, think of it like this: a government is like a mom and dad. They create the rules that you have to follow and they make the money we use (mom and dad create the rules and the money). Banks are just like your siblings – they can't make money, but they can help you use the money your parents make. So in neo-chartalism, the government is the only one creating the money and the banks can help you use it.
