Neo-Darwinism

Neo-darwinism is a theory about how living things have changed over time. In the theory, new species (types of living things) are formed by changes in DNA, the molecules that carry information about how to build and run our bodies. The changes are produced by a process called natural selection. When something in the environment changes, like temperature, food sources, or other living things that compete for resources, some individuals in a species may have DNA that gives them an advantage in this new environment. These "fitter" individuals are more likely to survive, reproduce, and pass their DNA along to the next generation. Over time, this process can shape species in new directions and create entirely new species.
