Neo-ultramontanism

Neo-ultramontanism is a big word that describes a way of thinking within the Catholic Church. Imagine you are playing with your toy cars and one of them is taller and bigger than all the others. That big car is like the Pope in the Catholic Church. The idea of neo-ultramontanism is that the Pope should have a lot of power and control over the whole church, just like the big car has power over the smaller cars.

Think of it like a big family with the Pope as the grandpa. The grandpa gets to make the rules and everyone else has to follow them. The neo-ultramontanists think that the Pope should have more power than other religious leaders, should be able to make important decisions without having to ask for permission from anyone else, and that everyone should follow his teachings without questioning them too much.

But some other people in the church don't agree with this way of thinking. They believe that other church leaders should have more say in important decisions and that it's important to listen to different opinions before making a choice. So, neo-ultramontanism is like the grandpa making all the decisions, but some people think that it's better to have a big family meeting to make decisions together.
