ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Network switching subsystem

A network switching subsystem (NSS) is like a big phone directory that connects all the phones together in a phone network. Just like when you want to talk to someone on the phone you dial their number and the phone system connects you to them, the NSS does the same thing but for all the phones in a big network.

The NSS makes sure that calls get connected to the right phone and that everyone can talk to each other even if they are far away from each other. It also helps with things like sending text messages and connecting to the internet.

Think of the NSS as a giant switchboard that sends signals from phone to phone to make sure that everyone can communicate with each other. It's like a traffic cop that helps to direct all the calls and data to their proper destinations.

Without the NSS, phones would not be able to talk to each other and there would be no way to connect to the internet. It's like the brain of the phone network that helps everything work smoothly and efficiently.
