ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Neural substrate

A neural substrate is a network of neurons in your brain. Neurons are like tiny little cells in your brain and they are connected to each other. They send signals back and forth, just like a computer or telephone. When you learn something new or do something different, your neurons make new connections so that you will remember how to do that thing or how to remember that information. Your neural substrate is the network of connections between the neurons in your brain.
