ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Neuropeptide

Neuropeptides are special little proteins in your brain and nervous system that help your body communicate with itself.

Whenever your brain or nerves need to send a message to another part of your body, they use these neuropeptides to do it. Just like how your mommy and daddy sometimes write notes or send messages to each other to let them know what they need or want, your body uses neuropeptides to do the same thing!

And just like how there are different words for different things, there are also different neuropeptides for different jobs. Some neuropeptides tell your body when to feel happy or sad, while others help you remember important things or control your appetite.

They might be small, but these neuropeptides are really important for your body to work properly and stay healthy!
