New institutionalism

Okay kiddo, so you know how we have different organizations like schools, hospitals, and governments that make rules and make sure things run smoothly? Well, the people who study those organizations and how they work are called sociologists and political scientists.

One idea that these people study is called new institutionalism. It basically means that the rules and ways of doing things in these organizations are really important, and they often stay the same even if the people in charge change.

So imagine if you go to a new school - the rules and ways of doing things might be different than what you're used to. But even if the principal or teacher changes, the rules stay the same. That's kind of like new institutionalism.

It's a way to explain why organizations have their own culture and ways of doing things, and why those things can be hard to change. It helps us understand how organizations work and how they can be improved.
