Nimravidae

Nimravidae is a fancy name for a group of animals that lived a really long time ago, even before your grandparents were born. They were a type of cat-like mammals, but they weren't exactly like the cats you see today. They had big teeth and sharp claws that helped them catch their food, which was usually other small animals.

Even though they looked like cats, they weren't actually related to them. Scientists call them "false cats" because they evolved separately from the cats we know today. They were very fast and agile, which means they could run and jump really well. But despite being so good at hunting, they eventually went extinct, which means they all died out. But don't worry, there are still plenty of other cool animals around today that are similar to nimravids, like lions and tigers!
