ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ninlil

Ninlil is a goddess from ancient Mesopotamia. She was known as the goddess of agriculture, fertility, and the harvest. People would pray to her to ask for her help with growing crops and having successful harvests.

Imagine if you were a farmer and all you wanted was to grow lots of delicious fruits and vegetables to feed yourself and your family. But sometimes the weather wouldn't cooperate, or there wouldn't be enough rain, or pests would eat all your crops. That's when you might pray to Ninlil and ask her for help.

In addition to being the goddess of agriculture, Ninlil was also married to the god Enlil, who was in charge of the sky and the wind. They were a very powerful couple and were often worshipped together.

So think of Ninlil like a super powerful farmer, who could make sure that everyone had plenty of food to eat. People would make offerings to her, such as food or drink, to show their appreciation for her help.
