Nitrazine

Okay, kiddo, so we're going to talk about a thing called nitrazine.

Have you ever seen a really cool test that doctors and nurses use to check if a mommy-to-be is going to have a baby soon? No? Well, then let me tell you about it.

When a mom is going to have a baby, her body gets ready for it. One of the things that happens is that her cervix, which is like a little door at the bottom of her womb, starts to open up so the baby can come out.

When the cervix is getting ready to open, something called amniotic fluid starts to come out. This is like water that the baby is swimming in while inside the mom's tummy.

Now, here's where nitrazine comes into play. When the amniotic fluid comes out, it can look a lot like pee. So, the doctors and nurses need to check if it's really amniotic fluid or not. They use a special paper called nitrazine paper to do this.

When they touch the nitrazine paper to the fluid, it will turn a bit darker if it's really amniotic fluid. If it's just pee or something else, then the paper won't change color.

So, that's what nitrazine is all about. It's just a little paper that helps doctors and nurses check if a mommy-to-be is really ready to have her baby.
