Nomonhan
Nomonhan was a big fight that happened a long time ago between two countries called Japan and the Soviet Union. They both wanted to control some land in a faraway place called Mongolia, which was full of grassy fields and hills and had a lot of cows and horses.
The fight started when Japan sent a bunch of soldiers and tanks to Mongolia, thinking that they could take control of the land. But then the Soviet Union got really angry and sent their own soldiers and tanks to stop them.
For many weeks, the soldiers from both countries fought each other with guns and bombs and tanks. It was very loud and scary, and many people got hurt or died.
Finally, the Soviet Union was able to defeat Japan and the fight ended. Many years later, people studied the big fight and the things that happened during it. They learned a lot about war and history from studying Nomonhan.
