ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Non-cognitivism

Non-cognitivism is kind of like how someone might offer a hug or a pat on the back to make someone feel better, but not actually say anything. Rather than saying that something is right or wrong, non-cognitivists talk about whether something is good or bad. They don't make claims that anything is objectively right or wrong - they say that those judgements are made by people, and that it's the people's feelings that decide whether something is good or bad. So, non-cognitivism is like telling someone that you think something is good or bad without actually trying to tell them whether it's right or wrong.
