The North Pacific Gyre is the name of an ocean current that runs in a big circle around the north Pacific Ocean. It starts near Japan and moves north along the coast of Asia and then turns west until it gets to North America near Alaska. From there it moves south along the coast of North America, then turns back east and heads south of Hawaii and back to Japan. The ocean current is like a slow-moving whirlpool that carries water, nutrients, and other things like pollution and trash around and around.
