Okay kiddo, let me try to explain Nouveau Realism (or New Realism) to you!
Have you ever heard of art? It's like really cool pictures and sculptures that people make to express themselves or share their ideas. Well, Nouveau Realism is a type of art movement that started in France in the 1960s.
Now, imagine you're walking down the street and you see a bunch of everyday things like newspapers, ripped posters, or even street signs. You wouldn't really think those things are special or interesting, right? But the artists of Nouveau Realism thought differently! They wanted to show that everyday objects could be just as important as the fancy things you might see in a museum.
So they started making art out of these ordinary objects! They called it "neo-realism" because it was a new, different way of looking at objects and the world around us. For example, one artist named Arman collected a ton of musical instruments, cut them up, and glued them together to make sculptures. Another artist named Yves Klein used a person's body to make a painting.
The Nouveau Realists wanted to challenge the traditional definition of art and show that anything can be art if you look at it in a new and creative way. Pretty cool, right?
