Novensiles

Ok kiddo, so let's talk about novensiles! You know how sometimes we need to measure things like weight or length? Well, novensiles is a special way of measuring things called distance.

Now, to understand distance, we need to talk about space. You know how we live on this big planet called Earth, right? And how we can travel from one place to another? That's because there's something in between those places called space.

So, distance is a way to measure how far apart two things are from each other. And novensiles is a special system of measuring distance that was used a very long time ago in ancient Rome.

Instead of using things like feet or meters that we use today, people in ancient Rome used something called a pace. A pace is basically a step you take when you're walking. So, they would use how many paces it takes to travel a certain distance to measure things.

But, they didn't just use any pace. They used a special type of pace called a noven, which means nine in Latin. A noven pace is basically the distance it takes to walk nine regular paces.

So, when people in ancient Rome used novensiles to measure distance, they were basically counting how many noven paces it took to travel a certain distance.

Pretty cool, huh? But nowadays, we don't really use novensiles anymore. We use things like kilometers and miles instead. But it's still interesting to learn about how people in the past measured things!
