ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Null semigroup

Okay, imagine you have a group of friends, and they all like to share toys and play games together. A null semigroup is like a group of friends with no toys or games to share - they can't really do anything together because there's nothing to work with.

In math terms, a null semigroup is a set of elements (like the group of friends) with an operation (like sharing toys) that doesn't do anything - it doesn't change the elements or make anything new. So it's like the friends trying to share empty hands - they're not really doing anything.

This might seem like a boring idea, but in math it can help us understand more complex concepts and theories, and can be used in different ways depending on the problem we are trying to solve.
