ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Numerical range

Okay kiddo, let me explain numerical range to you in a way you'll understand.

You know how when you go to the park and you can go on different rides like the swing, slide, and see-saw? Well, in math, we have something called a "numerical range" and it's the same idea!

Think of a bunch of numbers like your age, your shoe size, and the number of friends you have. These numbers have a special "range" which tells you how big or small they can be.

For example, your age can be anywhere from 0 (when you were born) to maybe 100 or even more (if you live a long time!). That's the range of your age.

In math, we call the set of all possible values that a number can have its "numerical range." It helps us understand how big or small the numbers are and what we can do with them.

So, just like how you can't go on a ride that's too big or too small for you, we can't do certain math operations with numbers that are outside their numerical range.

That's numerical range! It's like the playground for numbers, where we can find out how big or small they can be and have fun with them!
