ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Obstructed defecation

Okay little one, let's talk about pooping. Sometimes, when we need to go number two, things get stuck and it's hard to push it out. That's called obstructed defecation.

The reason this happens is because our poop needs to travel through different muscles and tubes to get to the toilet. Sometimes, these muscles and tubes don't work properly, and this can cause blockages or narrowing that make it hard for the poop to come out.

This can make us feel uncomfortable and bloated, and make it hard to go to the bathroom regularly. It can also lead to problems like piles and anal fissures.

If you're having trouble going to the bathroom, don't be shy to tell your parents or a doctor. They can help you figure out what's causing the problem and how to make it better. It's important to take care of your body and make sure everything is working the way it should!
