Occupations in electrical/electronics engineering

Electrical engineering and electronics engineering are two related but different branches of engineering that involve working with electricity. Electrical engineers work with the design and building of machines, systems and products that use electricity. This could include building power plants, wiring buildings, developing computers and making household appliances like TV sets.

Electronics engineers focus more on the development of electronic systems and components, such as circuit boards and microprocessors. Electronics engineers also create electrical systems for things like smartphones, tablets and gaming systems. They use these components to build products, software and systems that use electricity.

In both types of engineering, the engineers use physics, math and electronics to design, build, test and maintain electrical and electronic systems. Electrical and electronics engineering jobs can involve working in a variety of settings and involve creating products or providing services to companies, organizations, or individuals.
