Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) was a protest movement that began in 2011 in New York City. People who took part in OWS were mostly unhappy with the way the economy worked and how money and power were concentrated in the hands of a few people. They wanted to reduce the amount of money and power that the wealthy had and take action to create a fairer economy that works better for everyone. During the protest, people set up a "camp" in a park near Wall Street and held marches, rallies and other events. The goal of OWS was to get people to stand up and show their support for equal economic opportunities for everyone.
