An octuple scull is a boat that has eight rowers sitting side by side, each with two oars. Think of it like a really long bike with eight seats and each person pedals with two legs!
The rowers work together to move the boat forward by pulling the oars through the water. They have to be very careful to stay in sync with each other and move their oars at the same time so they don't accidentally hit each other and slow down the boat.
The person sitting in the first seat (called the "coxswain") is like the captain of the boat. They help steer the boat, make sure everyone is rowing at the same pace, and encourage the rowers to keep going even when they get tired.
Rowing an octuple scull is really hard work because each rower has to use a lot of their muscles to pull the oars through the water. But if they work together and stay in sync, they can go really fast and win races!
