ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Office camera

An office camera is like a special kind of eye that can help grown-ups keep an eye on what’s going on in the office. It’s like a little camera that’s all set up and locked in place, so it can only record and look at one specific spot in the office. This way, if grown-ups need to check who did something or if they want to make sure everyone is working safely, they can look at the video that the camera records.

But it’s really important to remember that cameras can only look at one spot and only if they’re pointed in the right direction. They can’t see everything else that’s going on in the office, and they can’t listen to what people are saying. So, it’s not like a camera can spy on people or invade their privacy.

In fact, grown-ups have to follow special rules when they use office cameras to make sure that they’re not breaking anyone’s privacy. They have to tell people that there’s a camera in the office and where it’s pointing, and they can only use the video for reasons like making sure everyone is safe and working well. It’s kind of like following the rules when we play games - we have to make sure everyone knows the rules so that we all have fun and play fair.
