Old Turkic script

Old Turkic script is a way of writing that was used a long, long time ago by people called the Turks. Writing is like drawing pictures with special symbols that have meanings. So, imagine you wanted to write a message to your friends, but instead of using letters like A, B, or C, you use symbols that have special meanings.

Now, imagine you live in a place called Central Asia, where there are many different groups of people who speak different languages. This is where the Turks lived a long time ago. They wanted a way to communicate with each other, even if they didn't speak the same language. So, they came up with their own special symbols to write with.

The Old Turkic script has 38 symbols, like little pictures, that represent different sounds in words. It looks a bit like how we write today, but the symbols are all connected to each other, like a puzzle. This made it easier to write quickly, and it was used for things like inscriptions on stones, grave markers, and manuscripts.

Eventually, as people started using different languages and writing systems, the Old Turkic script stopped being used. But it still remains an important part of the history and culture of the Turkic people, and scholars have been able to learn a lot about their languages and way of life from the old writings that have been found.
