ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Olm

Olm is a type of animal, sometimes called a "human fish" because it looks a little bit like a tiny, slimy person. Olms live in underground caves and rivers, and they are really good at swimming and finding their way around in the dark.

Olm are special because they can live for a really long time without eating. They have a slow metabolism, which means they don't need as much energy as most animals do. They also have some special adaptations that help them survive in their dark, damp environment. For example, they don't have any eyes, because there's not much light in the caves where they live. Instead, they use their sense of smell and hearing to find their way around.

Olm are really interesting animals to scientists because they are so different from other creatures that live on the surface. By studying olms, researchers can learn more about how animals adapt to different environments and how they survive in extreme conditions.
